Fashion For Democracy: Alternative Fashion Workshop & Town Hall
Workshop and discussion with local fashion designers: ‚Democratic fashion‘ as a driving force for circular, fair and local economic cycles.
Saturday, 14 November 2026
14:00–16:00
About the event
Fashion For Democracy (organised by Beneficial Design e.V.) brings together small, local and circular fashion initiatives – ranging from small brands and repair cafés to authors and researchers – with the public who wish to join the movement to democratise fashion. The initiative is convinced that local alternatives to mass fashion are a key component of a broader circular economy, and offers a space here to share knowledge and help their movement grow. Local fashion initiatives and the general public are warmly invited to join them at the venue, Compagno, in Mitte.
Agenda:
1. Welcome to the „Fashion For Democracy“ movement! Definition of the term
2. Identifying local initiatives focused on circular fashion as alternatives to participation in the dominant, unsustainable fashion industry
3. Presentation of local alternative fashion initiatives (including Compagno’s Repair Café)
4. Collaborative mapping exercise: a knowledge base on circular fashion initiatives in Berlin (using a large, physical map of the city, which will remain at Compagno and be further expanded)
